Straight From The Horses Mouth

The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd. Indeed in view of the silliness of the majority of mankind, a widespread belief is more likely to be foolish than sensible. – Bertrand Russell

By the way Joanthan. I discussed with my youngest son the other day about the attonement issues we discussed. He did his under grad at Liberty, Masters at RTS and another Masters at Boston college and is working on his Docterate in Religion and Philo…He currently teaches Religion and Philo at a Classic Christian Schoool in Boston. rn rnHere’s what he told me. A guy named Abelund (1079-1142) talked about the idea of the attonement being for us as well as Gustav Aulen’s book Christus Victor. That there has been a lot of discussion about the subject in the last 50 years and some even more reciently. He indicated that may in fact be a “part” of the work of attonment but certanily not inclusive especially when viewed from a whole Bible perspective. Much discussion in the Post Christian and Modernity (if I got that right) about the subject which leave out the idea of penal attonement aspects. The question then is how to related Pauls writtings in Romans. rnrnAnyway thats was his thoughts juts off the top his head in a quich phone call. I told him I was going to pick up your book and I’;ll send it to him when I’m finished.
