Spiritual Excuses

When Jesus said:

(New International Version) 22Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

23“Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets. (Luke 6:22-23)

He wasn’t giving people an excuse to be a jerk.

It's an old image I had in my reservoir. It just felt like the right image.

    :)

Good point. I just finished reading about the martyrdom of Polycarp. The early church knew what it meant to be hated for Christ's sake.

I’m not saying I wish I lived back then… I don’t know how I would respond. But we’ve got it pretty easy. I can be pretty bold in blogger world… but in the workplace I fear I just want people to like me. Mabe if they like me enough they will want to be a Christian???? I'm not sure how that's working out though…

Why do I fear sharing a message that may not be popular? I haven’t even witnessed any real public burnings lately…
