What was interesting for my tribe is that it actually began when a group of us said, What did Jesus do. We're tired of this thing we do on Sundays. Our pastor had a men's retreat and the group decided to continue the dialog. We were yearning for a deeper healing journey.

i really like your thoughts here. I'm going to have to come back and re-read some of this. got my brain going. thanks Jonathan. Brings to mind a conversation i was having with some pastors awhile back. 'The Gathering should not produce a community, but a community should come into a Gathering" trying to flesh out a communal concept of Church, Community, and true worship. where does it begin?

Jonathan,

Insightful post. It got me thinking about the sorts of things we ought to be doing in the attractional phase. It is all too easy to go to the business world for marketing insight, but, for a number of reasons too numerous and cranky to spell out, I'd rather not go there. So, I went instead to some issues we're having in our newly re-thought ministry and turned them into practices/goals.
- We gather to learn engagement.
- We gather to learn passion.
- We gather to make space for growth.
There is, of course, much more, but I do thank you for the thought fodder (both in this post and in many others).

- Laura
