It All Comes Back To Haunt You

Way back when I used to like this song.  I actually got to see these guys live in Sad Diego.  I still have their album.

Yesterday my daughter came home and said, “Dad, I want to find that song, ‘In The Kingdom.’ We sang it in youth group.” I didn’t remember what song it was so we looked it up on YouTube.

At least I can say I never had “poof hair.”

  • Try as I might, I could not resit the growing urge as I listened to this song. I fought it for as long as I could (about 2.4 minutes) But eventually I caved in: I stood up, pulled out my lighter, lit it and gently swayed with my arms extended.

Somehow it didn't have the same feeling doing it alone in my living room as it does in a concert surrounded by sweaty bodies and a mosh pit. Oh the days of poofy hair, Petra and tight jeans. But nothing can beat Stryper...those guys rocked! Yellow and black tights singing, To Hell with the Devil!! Oh, tears are welling up just thinking about them... ;-)
  • LOL. I've lit a few lighters myself. And I will say I've seen Stryper many times. I loved their music. I actually got to meet them. Great people.

This is why I think its a bad idea to try and be contemporary... sooner or later you end up looking like a Jesus Freak with bad hair. Better to always aim for timeless. At any rate its still better than that youtube of sonseed doing 'Jesus is my friend'.
  • I had to remind myself that I liked this song at one time. I still do to an extent, as much as I don't like to admit.
  • This is just so wrong...having a 90's flashback...can resist...starting to cry...
These guys played at a youth retreat I was at in 1989, before they had their guitarist...I was quite painful!
