What Is Salvation?
February 23, 2008 by Jonathan Brink

Salvation is discovering that there is nothing I have done, am doing, or will do that will change the way God feels about me. It’s discovering that my actions don’t define who He is. It’s discovering that He really, really, really does love me when there is just no way that this is a reasonable concept. Salvation is discovering that I’m not the judge, jury and executioner because if I was I would not respond the way God does. It’s just too painful. Salvation is discovering that everything that happens to me is for my good…if I let it be. It’s discovering that if I allow myself to be loved I am also designed to love. Salvation is coming home to my Father only to find him waiting for me with open arms. It’s seeing my Father’s image in those around me that speaks louder than anything they can ever do. Salvation is letting go of the junk that has kept me from receiving everything my Father wants to give me.
I need salvation every day.

Seeing your Father’s image in others. Wow. That’s really cool.
Cheers.
Jonathan - That’s beautiful! May we live our salvation!
“Letting go of the junk” is one of the key things. Jesus is a Savior and we need salvation from sin. We are saved from something and for something. This is the balance we struggle with to explain articulately to people - Why they need Jesus in the first place.
That, and that salvation is new (spiritual) life. It is expressed in holiness (as in the character of God), of which heaven is only the final step of the journey.
