Interesting Stuff 5

Missional Church Network has an interesting post about what could be in the church that is essentially a quote from David Watson. I found myself resonating with it.

—————————————————————————————————

A classic case of what happens when you get 27 Christians in the same room together: a fight. (Read the comments) Sad.

Grace throws down in this great post about the identity of the church.

I really want to see Beowulf. I didn’t read the book but heard the movie is stunning.

—————————————————————————————————

Jesus studied Buddhism in the movies. So that’s where he learned compassion.

  • I can't say that I read ALL the comments on the MD argument but sad indeed... I wish that we wouldn't do that to each other. I wish that we would love and nurture growth (aka discipleship) within the body. I wish that we would focus on what the 'church' (past and present) is doing well and learn from it.

Obviously we are all broken and sinful and imperfect. But can we not see the God within that brokenness? The God that wants to break our chains and give freedom? Must we only zero in on the chains that separate us? May Jesus Christ grant us perspective! How easily that I take him out of my tunnel vision and replace him with silliness!

It frustrates me that we act like humans. (I'm laughing)

(by the way, my dad and husband are going to go and see Beowulf... a boy movie, in my opinion.)
  • To say it better by borrowing another mans words:

"This year, or this month, or, more likely, this very day, we have failed to practice ourselves the kind of behavior we expect from other people." - CS Lewis
  • Raquel, you said,

"Obviously we are all broken and sinful and imperfect. But can we not see the God within that brokenness? The God that wants to break our chains and give freedom? Must we only zero in on the chains that separate us? May Jesus Christ grant us perspective!"

I think you just said what I've been trying to communciate all along. Nice.
