WWJS…To Me

worship.jpg

Glenn tagged me on a Meme. The question was, “What would Jesus say to me?” Like Glenn, I listen to this question on a daily basis. I want to deeply listen for the sake of my own heart and those around me.

For a long time I listened with the intent that he had something to tell me that was corrective, what I was doing wrong, and that kind of thing. In response I would constantly look to correct myself and magically attempt to be better. But more often than not I felt like a failed magician on display. And the more I tried to perform, the more I disappointed the imaginary crowd I had assembled in my head.

But as I think about the question now, I am reminded of the words of the Ragamuffin. If Jesus were standing here today, I believe he would ask me one question, “Do you believe that I loved you? Do you believe that there is absolutely nothing you could do that would earn my love because you already have it?”

I am at a place in my life where I am beginning to say yes. I really do…and it is good. Thank you Jesus for doing what you do best.

Great post. I struggle with that imaginary crowd in my head every day. I envy you being farther on the path than I, but I want to get there.
